    This article describes the therapeutic effectiveness of Panangin (potassium magnesium aspartate) in the treatment of 142 cases of arrhythmia. The drug has a good therapeutic effect, is safe and can be used in clinical practice as an additional method of therapy for cardiac arrhythmias.

    Among patients hospitalized in June 1995, 142 patients with various heart rhythm disorders were randomly selected. Study group: 42 men, 34 women.

    The youngest patient was 17 years old, the oldest was 86 years old, the average age was 53.2 ± 6.4. Control group: 36 men, 30 women. The youngest patient was 19 years old, the oldest was 82 years old, the average age was 52.4 ± 6.8. Etiology.

    Study group: 32 cases of coronary artery disease, 8 cases of acute myocarditis, 14 cases of hypertension, 6 cases of rheumatic heart disease, 5 cases of cardiomyopathy, 5 cases of hypokalemia, 6 cases of unspecified etiology.

    Control group: 32 cases of ischemic heart disease, 8 cases of acute myocarditis, 18 cases of hypertension, 1 case of cardiomyopathy, 3 cases of hypokalemia, 4 cases of unspecified etiology.

    Methods

    All observed patients after hospitalization underwent a comprehensive examination, including ECG, cardiac radiography, serum electrolyte levels, and liver and kidney function tests.

    Other antiarrhythmic drugs were stopped, ECG monitoring was prescribed for 15 days, and a course of treatment was prescribed for 15 days.

    Study group: Panangin in the form of an injection solution (10 ml ampoule contains potassium aspartate 0.425 g, magnesium aspartate 0.4 g, produced by the Hungarian pharmaceutical) at a dose of 40 ml in 250 ml of 5% glucose solution intravenously once a day or in tablets ( one tablet contains potassium aspartate 0.14 mg, magnesium aspartate 0.158 mg), 2 tablets 3 times a day orally, and varapamil 20 mg 3 times a day orally. Control group: only Panangin in the above dosage. Performance criteria. Significant efficiency: absence of extrasystole or 0–1 times/min, absence of tachycardia. Atrial flutter/atrial fibrillation has progressed to sinus rhythm.

    Efficacy: extrasystole is reduced by more than 50%, the number of tachycardia attacks has decreased significantly. Atrial flutter/atrial fibrillation converted to sinus rhythm in no more than 1 week. No effect: no change or worsening condition.

    Results (see Table 1 for details)

    Adverse effects: rash - 6 cases, stomach upset - 4 cases, nausea, vomiting - 4 cases. In both groups, before and after treatment, liver and kidney function was not impaired, and no hematuria was detected.
