Blood pressure changes throughout the day. No one manages to keep this indicator at the same values. But physiological changes are a small difference, and not permanent. But when the pressure remains above normal for a long time, the prognosis for hypertension is very high.
If, after diagnosis, the doctor confidently says that the patient has arterial hypertension, treatment begins. It is multifactorial, complex, almost always with a mandatory medication component. Among the prescribed medications you can find the drug Lozap.
Short description
Lozap tablets are a drug belonging to the pharmaceutical group of angiotensin II receptor antagonists.
The active ingredient is losartan (you've probably heard of a medicine with that name). The composition of Lozap is supplemented by formative ingredients, they are represented by microcrystalline cellulose, silicon dioxide, mannitol, talc, crospovidone, macrogol, etc.
The tablets are oval, convex on both sides, with a film coating. They are packaged in blisters, each containing 10 servings. There are 3 blisters in one package, you can buy a package with 6 or 9 blisters.
Description and operation of tablets
Lozap is a prescription drug classified as an angiotensin-2 receptor antagonist. The tablets are produced (Russia) and are an original drug based on losartan, an antihypertensive drug. The tablets cost 290 rubles for 30 pieces (dosage - 50 mg), they are white, oblong, coated. In addition to losartan, it also contains additional substances:
- mannitol;
- silicon dioxide;
- talc, etc.
There is also Lozap Plus on sale, which is distinguished by the presence of the thiazide diuretic hydrochlorothiazide, which enhances the hypotensive effect of losartan. The latter is an antagonist of specific receptors. It reduces vascular resistance, reduces adrenaline and aldosterone in the blood, is a diuretic, and reduces blood pressure and afterload. Other actions of the drug:
- prevention of myocardial hypertrophy;
- improving exercise tolerance;
- slowing the progression of heart failure;
- stabilization of blood urea.
Lozap does not interfere with the processing of bradykinin, which is why it rarely causes severe negative effects, such as angioedema. In patients with hypertension accompanied by proteinuria, the tablets reduce the protein content in the urine. The medicine does not suppress vegetative reflexes; without an overdose, it does not affect the level of triglycerides, cholesterol, or sugar. When taking the tablet, the hypotensive effect is observed after 6 hours, then after a day it begins to decrease. A persistent effect is observed after 21-42 days from the start of therapy.
Properties of the active substance
Losartan, which is the basic component of Lozap, is a specific antagonist (or blocker) of angiotensin II receptors. It is considered a strong antihypertensive agent. Losartan potassium is a whitish crystalline powder. It dissolves well in water and ethanol. This substance is characterized by blocking angiotensin II receptors in various structures - in the brain, in the adrenal cortex, in the liver, in the kidneys, in smooth vascular muscles, and in the heart.
What action does this component demonstrate:
- Does not suppress kinase, an enzyme that ensures the elimination of bradykinin;
- Helps reduce OPSS;
- Optimizes the level of adrenaline in the biofluid;
- Normalizes the volume of aldosterone;
- Reduces pressure in the ICC;
- It also has a diuretic effect;
- Helps reduce afterload on the heart muscle;
- Prevents myocardial hypertrophy;
- Normalizes tolerance to physical activity.
Thanks to this complex of properties, Lozap is used for blood pressure (arterial hypertension). Although he has other indications.
Therapeutic effect of "Lozap" - blood pressure tablets
"Lozap" is a specific angiotensin receptor blocker. Its action is based on the regulation of physiological processes in the myocardium and systemic circulation.
A highly effective drug can be classified as a receptor suppressor for the key causative agent of arterial hypertension.
A positive therapeutic effect is achieved through several important mechanisms:
- reduction of total vascular peripheral resistance;
- a decrease in the level of adrenaline and aldosterone in the blood;
- a gradual drop in blood counts;
- normalization of pressure in the pulmonary circulation;
- preventing hypertrophy (enlargement) of the left ventricle;
- diuretic (diuretic) effect;
- increasing endurance to physical activity.
As a result, the level of diastolic and systolic pressure gradually decreases, and the risk of heart attack, stroke, and death due to heart failure is significantly reduced.
Lozap tablets are well absorbed into the bloodstream, reaching maximum concentration within an hour. The hypotensive effect is observed within 6 hours after the first dose. A lasting effect is achieved with long-term use (3-6 weeks), so the course of treatment should be prolonged.
Pharmacokinetics of the active substance
Once the component is in the digestive tract, it is well absorbed in these structures. The bioavailability of the main ingredient is 33%. It is not so important whether the intake is tied to food (the main requirement is to take the tablet at the same time).
The effect of “primary passage” through the liver is detected. It is metabolized with the formation of a specific metabolite, which has more pronounced hypotensive activity (tens of times), and also with the formation of an inactive metabolite.
The maximum content in the blood plasma is detected an hour after consumption. Peak values of the main metabolite are noticeable after three to four hours. More than 98% of the main ingredient and its active metabolite bind to plasma blood proteins (mostly albumin).
Losartan does not actually cross the BBB. The elimination period of losartan and the active metabolite is one and a half to two and a half hours. The active component is excreted by the renal and intestinal routes (approximately in the ratio of 35% urine/60% feces-bile). If a single dose does not exceed 100 mg, then Lozap and its composition do not create significant accumulations in plasma.
pharmachologic effect
“Lozap” is an antihypertensive drug that blocks receptors of the AT1 subtype and interferes with the binding of angiotensin 2 and AT1 receptors. The drug does not affect the kinin system and does not contribute to the accumulation of bradykinin. Lozap is a prodrug. Its active metabolite (carboxylic acid), which is formed during the biotransformation process, has an antihypertensive effect. When taken orally within one hour, Lozap reaches its maximum level in the blood plasma, its metabolite reaches its maximum concentration within 3-4 hours. The drug is eliminated within nine hours. Losartan is eliminated in the first two hours, and its active metabolite is eliminated within 9 hours. As was revealed during scientific medical studies, the hypotensive effect is achieved more quickly in the combination of losartan and hydrochlorothiazide. Therefore, the combined drug “Lozap Plus” copes most effectively with this problem.
A single dose of Lozap has an antihypertensive effect for 6 hours, after which the effect will gradually decrease throughout the day. Therefore, you need to use Lozap constantly. If you take the medication regularly, in the second to fourth week the patient will feel the full antihypertensive effect of the drug. Blood pressure will remain normal. It should be noted that the decrease in blood pressure is observed equally in males and females. Race in the antihypertensive process, noted during the studies, did not manifest itself in achieving a positive result. “Lozap” has the same effect on everyone.
Who is Lozap indicated for?
The medicine Lozap has several indications. This is a drug that cannot be used without medical prescription.
Intended use is:
- Arterial hypertension. This is a disease that is characterized by a persistent increase in blood pressure. There are three degrees of the disease; the earlier it is detected, the easier it is to treat and control the disease.
- Chronic heart failure (CHF). This is the name for a condition characterized by a decrease in the volume of blood ejected by the heart with each contraction of the heart muscle. That is, the pumping function of the heart is in decline. This disease is characterized by shortness of breath, fatigue, swelling, and decreased physical activity.
- Diabetic nephropathy. This is the name given to specific defects in the kidney vessels that occur in diabetes mellitus (of two types), which leads to glomerulosclerosis, a decrease in the filtration capacity of the kidneys, etc.
When prescribing, the doctor also takes into account the increased risks of cardiovascular diseases and complications of the disease, among which the main one is stroke. Therefore, Lozap is often prescribed to those people who are at high risk of stroke.
By the way, there are also Lozap plus tablets, which are not a complete analogue of regular Lozap. They are already classified as combined drugs, that is, in addition to losartan, a diuretic is also included in the composition of this medication. This saves the patient from having to drink medications, figuratively speaking, by the handful.
One tablet a day is all the main treatment, which, of course, is convenient for the patient. Yes, we should not forget about non-drug therapy, but it is also easier to concentrate on it if drug treatment does not take much time, pills are not taken on an alarm clock several times a day, etc.

It is worth considering that “Lozap” and “Lozap plus” have almost identical spheres of influence and treatment. Indications for use are:
- a sharp increase in blood pressure of a constant or periodic type;
- as part of therapy in the treatment of chronic heart failure;
- as a prevention of diseases of the cardiovascular system;
- with manifestations of diabetes mellitus against the background of hypertension.
Contraindications
"Lozap plus" (tablets) can be taken after a doctor's prescription. In case of independent selection of medication and dose, there may be a risk of complications. This is due to the presence of diagnoses that are incompatible with the drug.
To prevent deterioration of the condition, you should undergo a preliminary examination and submit the necessary tests to the laboratory. It is also recommended to tell the doctor about previous and existing diseases.
Dangerous conditions for using the medication are:
- attacks of hypotension without the influence of drugs;
- disturbances in the process of urine formation;
- allergies and increased reactions to components;
- disorders of the kidneys and liver;
- period of bearing a child;
- breast-feeding;
- children under 18 years of age;
- presence of one kidney;
- violation of arterial patency;
- bronchial asthma.
Instructions for use and dosage of the drug "Lozap plus"
Take the drug orally 1 time per day, regardless of meals.
The method of application and recommended dosages are what distinguishes “Lozap” from “Lozap plus”. It is correct to drink 1 tablet (50 mg of losartan) per day. There is no connection to food intake. If, over time, the pressure does not drop as much as a person needs, the dosage should be increased.
It is better not to take more than 2 tablets per day. This has health consequences. To prevent cardiovascular diseases, it is enough to take 1 pill per day. If the doctor prescribes Lozap 100, half a tablet per day (50 mg) is enough.
Before starting treatment, you should consult a doctor and undergo an examination.
Side effects
Side effects are rare after taking Lozap Plus. The cause of the manifestations may be an incorrectly calculated dose or the presence of diseases incompatible with the medication. If the drug is used correctly and under the supervision of a doctor, the patient does not face the following side effects:
- swelling of the larynx and tongue;
- a rush of fluid to the face;
- redness of the face and body;
- a sharp drop in blood pressure values;
- disruption of the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract (diarrhea, constipation);
- dry cough;
- small rash on the body;
- changes in laboratory blood tests.
Overdose: symptoms and treatment
Heart rhythm disturbances are one of the signs of drug overdose.
If you use Lozap Plus without the prior consent and prescription of a doctor, an overdose occurs. The reason for this is exceeding the recommended dose for the body during long-term use. Symptoms of overdose are:
- disturbances in heart rhythm;
- severe hypothermia;
- disturbance in the balance of body substances;
- loss of fluid or the opposite water retention in tissues.
Treatment consists of the following:
- relieving symptoms;
- gastric lavage;
- adjusting the balance of microelements.
Drug compatibility
Doctors prescribe the drug “Lozap Plus” as an addition to the main therapy. in this case, it is important to take into account the compatibility and interaction of the active components. The manufacturer indicates the effect of losartan on other medicinal substances in the annotation.
When taken simultaneously with antihypertensive drugs, blood pressure drops faster. Excess potassium levels are observed when combined with potassium-containing products. A decrease in effect is observed when combined with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
Self-initiation of multiple medications at the same time is prohibited.
Pregnancy and lactation
Pregnant women are strictly prohibited from using this medication.
"Lozap plus" or "Lozap" are prohibited during pregnancy. This is especially true for women planning pregnancy and the first three months of bearing a child.
This is due to the negative impact of the substances in the composition on the fetus. Losartan can pass into breast milk. For this reason, feeding should be stopped during treatment.
You can return your child to natural feeding 2 days after the last dose taken.
Children and old age
People under 18 years of age are prohibited from taking Lozap Plus. The manufacturer warns about the dangers of taking it. For elderly patients, the initial dosage is 50 mg per day. At the same time, you need to constantly monitor your health and undergo laboratory tests. If ineffective, the medicine should be changed to a similar or similar drug.
For problems with kidneys and liver
"Lozap plus" is used with caution in cases of liver dysfunction less than 9 according to the Child-Pugh level. The dose is no more than 1 pill per day. If liver failure develops, use is prohibited. Disturbances in the functioning of the genitourinary system require careful selection of the dose and duration of treatment. Monitoring urine laboratory values is important.
Similar in action means
If there are contraindications to the medication “Lozap Plus” or if it is not available in the pharmacy, you should choose a substitute.
In this case, the product must be similar in action to the original one, while being completely suitable for the patient. The selection is made by the attending physician, taking into account the patient’s medical history.
Possible substitutes are Cardomin, Co-Sentor, Losartan, Lorista, Nostasartan, Logzartik Plus, Candecor and Valsartan.

How Lozap works
The product belongs to a new generation of medications, the distinctive feature of which is a soft and smooth decrease in pressure (or, as it is also called, physiological). The result is predicted as optimal, that is, the pressure is reduced to the target values.
It turns out that the medicine prevents the development of such dangerous vascular accidents as hypertensive crisis, stroke, and heart attack. We can say that Lozap not only prolongs the life of hypertensive patients, but also preserves its quality.
The hypotensive effect, for which the tablets are taken, becomes noticeable six hours after administration. Then, over the course of a day, it gradually weakens. But the greatest effectiveness can be expected from a course of treatment, which is at least three weeks. Since the bioavailability of the drug is low, the use of tablets is not tied to food.
IN
important! This medication reduces a number of specific proteins involved in immunological processes. While taking the medication, the level of protein in urine decreases and the content of plasma proteins in the blood also decreases.
Lozap tablets - what do they help with? To put it simply, they block the hormone angiotensin. Namely, the development of hypertension and not only it is associated with it. The drug prevents angiotensin from producing and interacting with AT receptors located in the adrenal glands. During this blockage, the blood vessels dilate, their functions are restored and the heart normalizes its function.
The special value of the drug is the absence of addiction syndrome. In this regard, it can be taken in long courses. Doctors also note that both at the onset of the disease and in recurrent cases, the effectiveness of the medicine will remain at the same level.
If we draw a simple parallel, taking a certain antibiotic for otitis, the patient is unlikely to treat repeated otitis with the same antibiotic. That is, the body gets used to the medicine and needs another drug to heal. Lozap does not cause such a reaction.
Who should not drink Lozap
Almost all medications available on the pharmaceutical market have a list of contraindications, often quite a long one. Pharmacology is considered a developed industry, but it has not yet been possible to ensure that medications are equally accessible to everyone in terms of effectiveness/risk.
Lozap's instructions for use clearly indicate cases when the patient and doctor will have to look for another medication.
Among these contraindications:
- Hepatopathology. This is due to a serious load on the liver, which, with certain diseases, cannot be exposed to such a risk.
- Pregnancy. Experiments on pregnant women, of course, were not conducted, but certain studies provide compelling reasons for refusing such therapy during the gestational period.
- High sensitivity to any of the ingredients of the product. An allergic reaction does not correlate with successful treatment.
- CHF, which had to be stabilized with drugs from the pharmaceutical group of ACE inhibitors.
- Lactation. The main substance ends up in breast milk, which is extremely unsafe for the baby.
- Not reaching the age of majority. There are currently no convincing arguments about the safety of treatment in children and adolescents.
These contraindications are not relative, but absolute, which means that the doctor cannot decide at his own discretion whether the patient can drink Lozap. If his diagnosis overlaps with a diagnosis from the list above, therapy with a different active substance is needed.

At what blood pressure is it taken?
The annotation does not contain clear information about the range of pressure indicators that will be the target for Lozap. This means that only the physician who supervises the patient’s treatment can decide whether Lozap will be effective in a particular case.
There are drugs that can be used only in the early stages of hypertension, and there are those that correct high blood pressure values inherent in severe disease. And there are such means as Lozap, where there are no clear instructions in this aspect of the purpose.
However, it is known that more severe cases of hypertension require complex therapy, that is, more often in such a situation the doctor will prescribe the same Lozap plus.
How to take Lozap correctly: schedule and dosage
They take tablets, as already noted, once a day. Therapy traditionally begins with lower doses. Even before starting treatment, EBV must be corrected. The medicine is not tied to food intake, but it is recommended to take it with plenty of water, as this will reduce the risk of unwanted reactions from the gastrointestinal tract.
Lozap dosages according to instructions:
- If arterial hypertension is detected, the medicine is prescribed in a dose of 50 mg 1/24, in some cases, to increase effectiveness, the dose is doubled, but it is also drunk in one dose.
- For persons with CHF, the dosage will be significantly less - 12.5 mg 1/24. But this is the starting volume; therapy involves gradually increasing the dose to an average dose, that is, equal to 50 mg. It is mandatory to take into account the tolerability of the pharmaceutical and the contraindications noted in the annotation.
- For patients undergoing severe diuretic therapy, the initial dose will be reduced to 25 mg daily.
- In people over 65 years of age, there is no indication to reduce the standard starting dosage.
- If the medicine is prescribed to reduce the threat of cardiovascular disorders, as well as to prevent the patient’s death from stroke and heart attack caused by hypertension, then the initial dosage will also be 50 mg daily. But gradually it rises to 100 mg.
- Patients with diabetes mellitus and diagnosed proteinuria also begin therapy with 50 mg, increasing the dosage to 100 mg as treatment progresses. In this case, the doctor relies on the results of measuring blood pressure.
- If the patient has concomitant liver diseases, if he has dehydration due to mechanical hemodialysis, and the patient is over 75 years of age, the initial dosage cannot exceed 25 mg.
Attention! You cannot change the regimen and dosage of the medication on your own. If the treatment can already be called long-term, but its effect is imperceptible, you should not take another pill, do not double the dose, but tell the doctor about the dubiousness of such therapy.
Release form and composition of "Lozap" from pressure
"Lozap" is a medicine for blood pressure with a pronounced antihypertensive effect. Belongs to a group of drugs that affect the functioning of the cardiovascular and renin-angiotensin systems, regulating the level of arterial parameters. It is used mainly in cardiology and therapy of patients of different age groups.
The drug is produced by a Slovak pharmaceutical company in tablet form. The package may contain 30, 60 or 90 tablets, packaged in blisters. In appearance, they are white, oval-shaped, film-coated tablets. Stored in a dry and dark place, at a temperature of no more than 30 °C, for 2 years. Available in pharmacy chains on a prescription basis.
The medicine lozap is a new generation of drugs with antihypertensive properties
"Lozap" is a monocomponent product based on one active substance. It includes:
- losartan potassium - active ingredient in concentrations of 12.5, 50 or 100 mg;
- magnesium stearate;
- microcrystalline cellulose;
- beckons;
- macrogol;
- titanium dioxide;
- dye
- silicon dioxide;
- povidone;
- talc.
There is a similar drug called Lozap Plus. It has a similar composition, but with one additional component that enhances the hypotensive effect - hydrochlorothiazide (12.5 mg). Both medications are used for blood pressure as prescribed by a doctor.
Lozap and side effects
In general, this medication is not characterized by serious manifestations of negative reactions, and those unwanted responses that are nevertheless recorded tend to go away on their own. But there are situations in which it is difficult to brush aside the symptoms of malaise, deterioration in general condition, etc.
There are so-called standard negative reactions that quickly go away on their own:
- Abdominal pain – can occur due to existing gastrointestinal pathologies or due to improper medication administration (for example, the patient swallows a pill without drinking enough water);
- Chest pain;
- Fast fatiguability;
- Slight swelling in the extremities;
- Cardiopalmus;
- Nausea;
- Headache;
- Cramps affecting the calf muscles;
- Sleep problems;
- Cough;
- Rhinitis.
These negative reactions need to be monitored; if they last a long time, if they intensify, you need to quickly report them to the doctor.
Negative reactions with long-term use
Prolonged use of the drug can lead to disorders of various organs and systems. This is due to the accumulation of the basic substance in the body.
Violations may be:
- Allergies in areas of special dermal sensitivity;
- Hair loss associated with increased dermal sensitivity and hyperhidrosis;
- Heartache;
- Nosebleeds;
- Malfunctions of the digestive organs - from flatulence and constipation to diarrhea and problems with appetite;
- Dysfunction of sensors, for example, smell, as well as taste buds;
- State of unreasonable anxiety;
- Frequent urination and false urge to urinate.
If such negative reactions occur, the doctor will either reduce the dosage or replace the medicine with a safer one.
Alcohol and Lozap
Some patients are interested in how losartan is combined with alcohol-containing drinks. Many believe that since the medicine is a model of the modern pharmaceutical industry, it can be “reconciled” with alcohol. But this opinion is wrong.
No matter what dosage Lozap is taken, it cannot be combined with alcohol - such a combination can lead to tragic consequences. At a minimum, the patient may develop severe headaches, nausea, and a decrease in blood pressure to hypotonic, often critical values.
Losap and pregnancy
It is believed that Lozap is not recommended in the first trimester of pregnancy, and is strictly contraindicated in the next two. It has been proven that the second and third trimester cannot involve therapy with Lozap even in the minimum dosage, because the composition of the medicine has a negative effect on the fetus. This is reflected in a decrease in kidney functionality, as well as a slowdown in the development of cranial bones.
If the fact of pregnancy is established, therapy with Lozap is stopped immediately. If a woman is planning a pregnancy, she should also refuse such treatment.
It is believed that the composition of Lozap is excreted into breast milk. But scientists do not find convincing evidence of this. That is why the medicine is not prescribed for breastfeeding: none of the versions has compelling arguments, so the risk must be excluded. If there is an urgent need for a nursing mother to take Lozap, she should stop lactation.
Is it possible during pregnancy?
Lozap is not recommended for women who are planning a pregnancy, as well as during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
If a patient is taking the drug and her pregnancy is confirmed, this requires urgent discontinuation and switching to another drug that can be used without risk to the fetus.
Since there is insufficient data on the possibility of taking Lozap during lactation, it is advisable to choose alternative medications that have undergone thorough clinical research during this period. It is especially dangerous to breastfeed premature infants while using losartan, as this can lead to critical hemodynamic compromise.
Potential drug combinations
Another common question from patients is what can Lozap be combined with. Often it is not the only medication that the patient should take. Therefore, the doctor who monitors the patient’s hypertension must know about all third-party prescriptions addressed to the patient.
Frequent requests are for the following combinations:
- Bisoprolol and Lozap - such compatibility is considered acceptable. These medications belong to different pharmaceutical groups. They show joint effectiveness in hypertension with tachycardia, arrhythmia and CHF.
- Indapamide and Lozap. These are also compatible medications; they are prescribed together if one of the medications does not achieve the predicted effectiveness. When used together, few adverse reactions are observed.
- Kapoten and Lozap. They are distinguished by controversial effectiveness. In practice, such a combined technique almost never occurs.
- Eprosartan and Lozap. You should not combine two drugs, because such a combination can lead to a double effect and a high risk of developing adverse reactions.
If you take the drug without medical advice, there is a high risk of serious disorders in the body.
Compatibility of Lozap Plus with other substances
Lozap Plus can be used as the only medication in therapy. However, it is sometimes included in the treatment complex. In this case, it is very important to pay attention to how the product behaves in the company of other substances.
Compatibility of Lozap Plus with other products:
Drug groups | What changes in the properties of drugs occur when they are combined with Lozap Plus |
Rifampin and fluconazole | Decreased concentration of the active metabolite of losartan. Because of this, the antihypertensive ability of the drug decreases. |
Potassium-sparing diuretics | The antihypertensive properties of the drug and the likelihood of developing hyperkalemia increase. |
Other diuretics | The likelihood of side effects increases. Acute hypotension may occur. |
Angiotensin-2 blockers | There is a high probability of developing acute hypotension. The likelihood of side effects also increases. |
Preparations containing lithium | There is a risk of developing lithium intoxication |
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs | The effectiveness of Lozap Plus is reduced. Its negative effect on the kidneys increases. |
Aliskiren | Negatively affects kidney function. It is dangerous to use for people suffering from pathologies of this organ, as well as for people with diabetes. |
Antidepressants, antipsychotics, ACE blockers and adrenoreceptor inhibitors | Acute hypotension may occur. The risk of side effects increases. |
Alcohol-containing products and barbiturates | Acute hypotension develops. The risk of side effects increases. |
Remedies for diabetes | Hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia may develop. Dose adjustment is required. |
Colestipol and Cholestyramine | The effectiveness of Lozap Plus is reduced. |
Corticosteroids | The risk of electrolyte imbalance increases. |
Pressor type amines | The effectiveness of amines may be reduced. |
Non-depolarizing muscle relaxants | The effect of muscle relaxants is enhanced |
Antigout drugs | The effectiveness of gout medications decreases. Dose adjustment is necessary. |
Cytotoxic drugs | The risk of side effects increases, the excretion of cytotoxic substances is inhibited. |
Salicylates | The toxic effect of the drug on the central nervous system increases. |
Methyldopa | There is a possibility of developing hemolytic anemia. |
Cyclosporine | The concentration of urea in the blood increases. The course of gout worsens. |
Cardiac-type glycosides | Arrhythmia may develop. |
Products containing calcium | Hypercalcemia may develop. |
Products containing iodine | Acute dihydration occurs. Acute renal failure may develop. |
Are there any advantages of Lozap over other means?
Comparative characteristics can never be taken as unconditional, because in each such assessment there will be many remarks. Lozap is indeed a good hypertensive drug, but in one case it will be enough and the predicted effectiveness will be fully justified. In another case, it will not give maximum effect, and doctors will look for another targeted remedy.
On average, cardiologists note that the drug is well tolerated by patients with CHF: it helps regulate tolerance to emotional and physical stress. The medicinal product reduces the level of adrenaline in the patient’s blood, and it also allows the heart to enlarge, i.e. Lozap prevents myocardial hypertrophy from developing.
Contraindications
Lozap is not prescribed for children under 6 years of age, and there is no information about safety in case of low filtration capacity of the kidneys or impaired liver function. Absolute contraindications include:
- pregnancy,
- lactation,
- individual hypersensitivity.
If you are prone to allergic reactions, especially with swelling of the face, throat or lips in the past, taking the drug should be under medical supervision for at least the first two weeks.
Lozap is prescribed with caution in the following cases:
- lack of sodium due to long-term use of diuretics, a salt-free diet, vomiting or diarrhea;
- increased potassium content in the blood due to kidney failure, diabetes mellitus, cardiac decompensation, taking medications with potassium or potassium-sparing diuretics;
- stenosis of the renal arteries with bilateral damage or narrowing of the vessel of the only kidney;
- primary hyperaldosteronism (Conn's disease);
- myocardial or cerebral ischemia (progresses with excessive pressure drop);
- severe heart failure with concomitant kidney damage or severe arrhythmia;
- stenosis of the valve openings of the heart, especially the aorta and mitral;
- cardiomyopathy with myocardial hypertrophy.
Comparisons with analogues
Lozap or Lorista – which is better? No significant difference was found in their formulas. Their differences are only in manufacturers and cost, so Lozap has a more attractive price.
If we compare it with Valsartan, it differs in its active dosage form - a significant part (about 83%) of its composition is released through the intestines, and only 13% is evacuated through the kidneys. This makes Valsartan a more attractive medication for people with liver and kidney diseases.
Comparison of Lozap with other medicines | |
Enalapril | It belongs to ACE inhibitors, reduces blood pressure faster and more effectively. At the same time, the price of the medication is lower. But, like other ACE inhibitors, Enalapril often causes an unproductive, painful cough. |
Diroton | Also an ACE inhibitor, that is, a medicine from another pharmaceutical group, a non-structural analogue. It works on the basis of lisinopril. Many doctors consider it a priority in the treatment of hypertension. |
Noliprel | And this is a combination medication that combines perindopril and indapamide in one formula. This combination gives a greater effect, therefore the medicine is considered more effective. |
Concor | Doctors can prescribe Lozap and Concor in combination, assuming that one drug will enhance the effect of the other. |
Which is better – Lozap or Losartan? Since the base component of Lozap is losartan, it is easy to guess that these are direct analogues. If we compare these drugs on all points: indications, active component, conditions of release, time of maximum hypotensive effect, onset and maintenance of the effect, they will all be identical. The differences between medications are only in price and class=”aligncenter” width=”1024″ height=”493″[/img]
So Lozap has an average price of 240-300 rubles for 30 tablets in a minimum dosage of 12.5 mg. Losartan is cheaper - about 80-130 rubles for the same number of tablets in the same dosage.
Lozap is produced by the Slovak company Zentiva, and Losartan is produced by the Israeli company Teva, the Russian manufacturer Vertex, as well as the Belarusian RUE Belmedpreparaty.
Description of the drug
The drug "Lozap" is available in film-coated tablets of varying dosages from 12.5 mg (No. 90) to 50 mg (No. 50, No. 30). The drug “Lozap Plus” also belongs to this group. It differs from “Lozap” in composition. So, in “Lozap” there is only one active substance - losartan potassium, and in “Lozap plus” there are two: losartan potassium and hydrochlorothiazide. Mannitol, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, povidone, macrogol, dimethicone, hypromellose, talc, yellow dye are used as additional substances in the drug.
What is the advantage of Lozap Plus over Lozap
The indications for these drugs are the same. But Lozap is a single drug, and its “brother” with the Plus prefix is a combined drug. The latter operates on the basis of losartan potassium and hydrochlorothiazide. The second ingredient has diuretic properties, enhancing the effectiveness of the antihypertensive component.
Doctors prefer to prescribe this remedy to people with severe hypertension, as well as to patients with left ventricular hypertrophy. This medicine reduces the risk of death in people who have experienced a hypertensive crisis.
Significant differences between medications:
- Lozap plus has a more pronounced antihypertensive effect;
- regular Lozap has a smaller list of contraindications and adverse reactions, which is explained by the active component in the formula alone;
- Lozap is used by diabetics, and Lozap plus is prescribed for endocrine pathologies with great caution;
- Lozap plus is less favorable in terms of price, since it uses two components.
The doctor decides which medicine to choose - this is purely his area of responsibility.
Indications for use
The drug Lozap has the following indications for use:
- arterial hypertension;
- chronic heart failure (used in combination treatment);
- diabetic nephropathy (pressure medicine Lozap is used for type 2 diabetes mellitus).
In addition to these pathologies, the drug Lozap has indications for use, such as increased risks of cardiovascular disease (here we mean stroke). It is also prescribed to people who suffer from hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy.
The blood pressure medicine Lozap Plus, which replaced somewhat outdated blood pressure medicines, has many positive qualities that should be taken into account by people with high blood pressure.
