EDARBI CLOUGH REVIEWS OF CARDIOLOGISTS instructions for use || Edarbi side effects patient reviews

Instructions for use

All patients taking this drug should read the instructions for use in order to find out at what pressure the tablets should be taken.
Following the doctor's recommendations, Edarbi is taken orally at a pressure above 170 mmHg. The timing of meals does not in any way affect the healing properties of the medicine. The tablets are intended for long-term therapy, during which the pressure normalizes and the sign of its increase disappears.

Treatment begins with taking 40 mg of medication per day. The permitted increase to the maximum value is 80 mg per day. This manipulation is allowed for patients whose blood pressure readings do not improve after low-dose therapy.

It is also recommended to start taking tablets for high blood pressure Edarbi Clo with a minimum dosage. If health conditions require it, the dose is increased to 40 mg + 25 mg. Requires daily use of tablets at the same time.

The reaction to the sudden withdrawal of the blood pressure drug Edarbi Clo was not recorded for six months, but doctors still recommend stopping the medication gradually.

If the patient forgot to take the tablet at the specified time, then Edarbi or Edarbi Clo should be taken the next day at the usual time. If you miss 1 tablet, you do not need to increase the next dosage.

You should be careful during complex therapy with the use of antihypertensive medications. Side effects are likely to occur, causing dizziness and fatigue.

Peculiarities of use include the effect of the drug on the body when it is necessary to drive a vehicle. An insignificant effect of the components on the body was revealed, but it does not require giving up driving.

About new generation drugs for hypertension in the video:

Before taking Edarbi, you should definitely consult a specialist. It is not recommended to prescribe the drug yourself, since the list of side effects and contraindications is quite impressive to not take it into account when taking it. However, if all the nuances are taken into account and the dosage is selected correctly, the medication will effectively combat essential hypertension.

How to take Edarbi clo in special cases

You should carefully choose the dosage for those patients who have impaired:

kidney and liver function.

A double dose should not be taken by elderly people, in which case the risk of hypotension increases. Receptor antagonists in this case may have a negative effect on the cardiovascular system instead of reducing AR. A strong antihypertensive effect is observed in patients aged 19 to 60 years without problems with kidney and liver function. The dosage can be increased to 80 milligrams only if aortic valve stenosis is observed. The recommended dose for elderly people of Azilsartan is 20 mg.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding

It is not recommended to take this medicine during pregnancy - it can cause various levels of heart complications. Biological studies show that acids and active ingredients after taking the tablet can penetrate the placental barrier. A high level of toxicity is the main negative effect that can occur from taking these pills during pregnancy. Some young mothers developed hypotension after taking the pills during pregnancy.

Edarbi tablets instructions for use

Edarbi clo tablets for renal impairment

Azilsartan is excreted through feces and urine. Pharmacists note that such a combination drug containing azilsartan and diuretics is eliminated over a long period of time, and equilibrium concentration is achieved within five days. The combination of azilsartan with diuretics creates a powerful load on the renal system. There is no prohibition on taking the drug in case of deficiency, however, to do this you need to choose the minimum amount of mg of azilsartan for daily use.

Double blockade of the RAAS

Double blockade of the RAAS when taking Edarbi is the norm, regardless of age. Blockade of angiotensin receptors leads to partial neutralization of hypertension and the elimination of renal dysfunction

It is important to note that the active substance itself is the primary RASS hormone. This property is directly related to thrombocytopenia - RASS affects blood density and blood sugar levels

Primary hyperaldosteronism

Patients who have primary hyperaldosteronism may experience dizziness or other side effects as a result of taking this medication due to the resistant process. ACE inhibitors do not have a positive effect on the body, which has increased secretion of aldosterone. It is not recommended to take Edabri analogues, regardless of price and dosage.

Hypokalemia

The term “hypokalemia” is a biological process that reflects a decrease in potassium levels in the body. Glycosides of azilsartan medoxomil cause an increase in the amount of this substance due to the composition. This role is performed by the medicine due to the presence of diuretics and potassium-containing elements in the composition. If the patient has undergone a kidney transplant or their functions are impaired, then taking Edarbi is not recommended. To effectively remove fluid, you should drink plenty of water when treating with chlorthalidone or other diuretics.

Mitral valve stenosis and hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy

The medicine can be taken by those patients who have hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy and mitral valve stenosis. It is recommended to prescribe minimal dosages without further increases (from 20 to 40 milligrams). This disease is associated with ventricular hypertrophy, which leads to increased blood pressure. But this is not due to biological processes, but to mechanical thickening of the walls of the ventricle.

Directions for use and doses

The capsules are taken orally as a whole.

For hypertension, the initial daily dose is 80 mg. The effect of using the drug develops within two weeks. The dose can be increased to 320 mg per day on the recommendation of a doctor.

For heart failure, 40 mg is prescribed. The dose may be increased to 80 mg twice daily. If the drug is well tolerated by the patient, the dose can be increased to 160 mg in two doses. You can take no more than 320 mg per day.

After myocardial infarction, administration should be started within the first 12 hours. The initial dose is 20 mg per day. It can be increased as prescribed by the attending physician to 160 mg per day in two doses.

Expensive, but effective. My personal opinion about Edarbi clo tablets

Possible side effects when using Sartavel: decreased hemoglobin and hematocrit levels, thrombocytopenia, increased potassium levels in the blood serum, liver dysfunction, vertigo, vasculitis, cough, abdominal pain, skin rash and dermatitis, myalgia, impaired renal function and increased level of creatinine in the blood, increased fatigue, arthralgia, asthenia, back pain, nausea, edema and others.

Edarbi - instructions for use

The main effect of Edarbi is to lower blood pressure. Before starting a course of 6-12 months, it is recommended to take diuretics, which perform a diuretic function. When Edarbi is used simultaneously with them, only an increase in the effect of lowering blood pressure is observed without the risk of harmful effects. With azilsartan monotherapy, side effects occur only slightly and do not pose a threat to the patient’s health.

Particular attention should be paid to drugs that contain lithium:

  • When taking lithium drugs in parallel, toxicity may occur.
  • If the concentration of lithium is high, it is necessary to stop taking ACE inhibitors (if any were taken).

Initial dose of the drug

When prescribing the drug, you should adhere to the recommended minimum dosage. It should not exceed 80 milligrams/day, since if the dose is exceeded, side effects of angiotensin are possible. The initial dose should be 40 milligrams/day (recommended to be taken before or after meals). If the recommended intake is not followed, severe renal dysfunction and simultaneous deterioration of the cardiac system may rarely occur.

Dosage for long-term use

Special instructions for Edarbi: dosage requires adjustment after a complete examination of the patient, based on his biological indicators. The action of angiotensin negatively affects the functioning of the cardiovascular tract, leading to a sharp increase in AR or chronic imbalance, therefore it is recommended to take the medicine as follows:

  1. Initially, to reduce blood pressure, 40 milligrams of the substance (the active ingredient acts as a specific angiotensin antagonist).
  2. At the end of the dose, it is permissible to increase the dosage to 60-70 milligrams. To avoid water-electrolyte imbalance, diuretics should be taken.

What is withdrawal syndrome when you suddenly stop taking it?

If you stop taking it abruptly, some medications can cause withdrawal symptoms, which means that the negative symptoms of the curing disease reappear. When taking Edarbi, this may result in uncontrolled arrhythmias. The risk of developing myocardial infarction cannot be excluded. This is due to the strong biological effect on the body from the active substances. The instructions indicate that to neutralize the risk of such an effect, it is necessary to control the dosage without exceeding it. The same applies to analogues of the drug.

Overdose

When taking azilsartan medoxomil as a monotherapy drug in daily doses of up to 320 mg for 7 days, it was well tolerated. Symptoms of overdose may include dizziness and a pronounced decrease in blood pressure; in this condition, it is necessary to transfer the patient to a lying position with his legs elevated. Measures to increase blood volume and symptomatic therapy are also recommended. The drug is not removed by dialysis.

When carrying out monotherapy with chlorthalidone, symptoms of overdose include disturbances in water and electrolyte balance, dizziness, weakness, and nausea. If there is a significant decrease in blood pressure, it is recommended to lavage the stomach; infusion therapy (to normalize the water-electrolyte balance) and symptomatic therapy are also prescribed.

Analogues of the drug Edarbi from Russian manufacturers

These are drugs that have a similar composition, as well as specific effects on the body, but have more affordable price parameters. We propose to study similar drugs that are produced by domestic pharmaceutical companies:

  • Angiakand. An excellent analogue that quickly copes with chronic heart failure, as well as high blood pressure. It has similar contraindications to Edarbi, since it cannot be used during lactation, pregnancy and under the age of 18 years. The active ingredient is candesartan cilexetil. Before use, it is recommended to consult a doctor regarding dosage. The cost is no more than 320 rubles;
  • Oxodolin. The most accessible analogue, which contains the substance in its composition, is chlorthalidone. In addition to quickly lowering blood pressure, additional treatment and prevention of pathologies of blood vessels and the heart are also formed. The cost is no more than 150 rubles, indications, contraindications and mechanics of action on the body are similar to Edarbi;
  • Blocktran. Price from 200 rubles, active substance – potassium losartan. Used in the treatment of hypertension, provides a rapid reduction in blood pressure, taken once a day. The dosage is determined individually, depending on the degree of development of the pathology;
  • Sartavel is considered the most popular analogue, as it is highly effective and has minimal negative side effects. Dispensed by prescription. The main active ingredient is valsartan. The composition of active components differs significantly from Edarbi, but the mechanics of action on the body remain the same.

These analogues of the drug Edarbi are quite popular, since in addition to an affordable price, they also have decent effectiveness.

How to take the pills?

Photo 3The drug is available only with a prescription. The medicine is taken orally, regardless of the time of meal.

Reception of Edarbi should not be interrupted. When stopping, be sure to consult a doctor.

If a single dose is missed, you cannot take a double dose the next day; you should continue the standard course of taking the medication.

People under 18 years of age are not recommended to take the drug due to the lack of relevant research.

Features of the drug Edarbi

Often, the recommendations of cardiologists focus on this particular drug, since it is available in tablets, the main active ingredient is azilsartan medoxomil potassium, and is characterized by increased efficiency. The medicine can quickly reduce blood pressure because it is a second-generation receptor antagonist. The drug is used not only to reduce blood pressure, but also in a number of other cases.

Do you still think that it is difficult to cure hypertension?

Judging by the fact that you are reading these lines now, victory in the fight against pressure is not yet on your side...

The consequences of high blood pressure are known to everyone: these are irreversible damage to various organs (heart, brain, kidneys, blood vessels, fundus of the eye). In later stages, coordination is impaired, weakness appears in the arms and legs, vision deteriorates, memory and intelligence are significantly reduced, and a stroke can be triggered.

Why is Edarby Clo not on sale?

We found out why it became extremely problematic for patients to buy Edarbi Clo at a pharmacy, because the overwhelming majority of trade organizations simply do not have it. The fact that Edarbi Clo is not available in pharmacies is a big problem for both doctors and patients.

Our attempts to order the medicine from suppliers were also unsuccessful; key federal distributors of medicines do not have it either.

For clarification, we contacted the Moscow office of Takeda and the manufacturer’s hotline. As a result, the answer was received:

Edarbi tablets instructions for use
Click on the image to enlarge it. We apologize for the inaccurate display of the borders of the Russian Federation on the presented map.

Probably, the company is taking these actions as part of the procedure for a “global review of the portfolio and re-equipment of production.” It is for this reason that Takeda stopped the production and supply of three vital drugs to Russia. Unfortunately, this company policy currently causes great inconvenience to patients. People become hostage to the current situation and are forced to look for a replacement for the missing Edarbi.

Edarby Clo's action

This is a combination antihypertensive drug. Produced in tablet form. Main components:

  1. Medoxomil potassium acts as a neutralizer of angiotensin receptors. It effectively reduces blood pressure and also has an antitumor effect.
  2. Chlorthalidone is characterized by diuretic properties and effectively cleanses the liver of creatinine elements. Capable of removing primary and secondary metabolites.

The drug constricts blood vessels well, stimulates the production of aldosterone, and increases the heart rate. After taking the pill, the pressure decreases within several hours, and this condition persists for a day. The diuretic effect occurs 2-3 hours after using the product and lasts 2-3 days.

The medication is indicated for essential hypertension. Contraindications include:

  • severe diabetes mellitus;
  • severe renal failure;
  • anuria;
  • severe liver dysfunction;
  • refractory form of hypokalemia;
  • pregnancy;
  • breast-feeding;
  • age under 18 years;
  • excessive sensitivity to the components of the product.

You should stop taking the drug in favor of some other medicine in the following cases:

  • allergic reaction to the composition;
  • pregnancy;
  • diabetes mellitus, which is treated with aliskiren;
  • age less than 18 years;
  • severe form of liver dysfunction.

Edarbi may be used with caution in the following situations:

  • severe chronic heart failure;
  • severe renal failure;
  • ischemic cardiomyopathy;
  • ischemic cerebrovascular diseases;
  • decreased level of circulating blood volume;
  • recently transplanted kidneys;

  • age over 75 years.

During pregnancy and lactation, taking Edarbi is strictly prohibited, except in cases where the positive effect on the mother will be much greater than the negative effect on the fetus.

Indications for use

The main reasons why medication is prescribed include developing hypertension or treatment of an existing disease. The doctor-recommended main dose of Edarbi blood pressure tablets is 40 mg of the substance per 24 hours. If the effect of therapy with this drug does not produce positive results, a gradual increase in the daily dose to 80 mg is possible.

Edarbi tablets instructions for use

You are allowed to take no more than 80 mg of medication per day. If the specified norm is exceeded, an overdose of the medication is possible.

The blood pressure medicine Edarbi gives positive results after just two weeks of treatment. Improvements in the patient's well-being begin to appear during the month-long course of therapy. You are allowed to finish taking the medication on your own, the only condition is to notify the attending physician.

For some patients, taking the blood pressure drug Edarbi does not help normalize blood pressure. Then complex therapy is used using the following additional medications:

  • tablets with antihypertensive effect;
  • calcium channel blockers;
  • diuretics.

For patients with mild symptoms, the recommended dose of Japanese Edarbi blood pressure tablets is 20 mg. Increasing the dosage is possible with the permission of the attending physician.

People with kidney pathology should be especially careful when taking Edarbi high blood pressure pills. If the patient has severe liver failure, taking the drug is completely prohibited. But for mild heart pathologies, dosing the medication is not necessary.

It is not recommended to use the medication if the patient has a low level of salts in the body. In such a situation, blood circulation in the human body decreases, which is a prohibition for treatment with this method. It is possible to begin therapy with the Japanese blood pressure drug Edarbi only after this pathology has been eliminated.

Edarbi Clo analogues and their price

Due to the lack of medicine in pharmacies, patients are tormented by guesses: “what can replace Edarbi Klo?” And here we all face great disappointment, because it is impossible to find a medicine with a 100% identical composition - it simply is not on the pharmaceutical market. And there can only be two ways out of this situation:

1. Using Edarbi 40 mg tablets + another diuretic separately:

  • veroshpiron (90-300 rubles/pack);
  • diuver (400-1100 rub/pack);
  • hypothiazide (80-100 rub/pack);
  • hydrochlorothiazide (60-120 rubles/pack) or others.

2. Since regular Edarby does not have completely identical analogs (which contain the same active ingredients), you can use other effective combination drugs that have an identical therapeutic effect:

  • lozap plus (300-900 rubles/pack);
  • Lorista N (300-800 RUR/pack);
  • Lorista ND (400-850 RUR/pack);
  • Valsacor N (400-900 RUR/pack);
  • coaprovel (700-1000 rubles/pack);
  • telzap plus (400-1200 rubles/pack);
  • micardis plus (1000 rubles/pack);
  • telpres plus (300-900 rubles/pack).
    Here we emphasize once again that in these drugs both the main substance and the diuretic (diuretic) differ from the active components of Edarbi Clo.

*The prices presented are indicative and depend on the dosage, number of tablets and region of sale of the medicine.

After talking with a cardiologist at one of the city clinics in Nizhny Novgorod, we found out another, third way to solve our problem. In particular, the specialist recommends that his patients use a combination of regular Edarbi and Nitrendipine drugs (Nitremed or Octidipine), which is an antihypertensive drug from the group of calcium channel blockers.

Edarbi tablets instructions for use
According to the doctor, this combination of drugs allows for a sustained reduction in blood pressure, especially in patients over 50 years of age.

The doctor also pointed out the possibility of combining Edarbi with other groups of antihypertensive drugs. But in this case, the selection of medication should be carried out strictly by a cardiologist, because each patient, as well as his response to the therapy, is individual.

Side effects of Edarbi

The drug has a number of side effects. However, their appearance is associated with incorrect dosage or violations of the recommendations for taking the drug. Side effects are also relevant when taking the Edarbi analogue. The information described above is based on experiences and patient reviews. Most of the negative effects on the body disappear after a short time of activity. This is also true for drug analogues with the same active substance.

Negative effects of Azilsartan:

  • dizziness;
  • diarrhea;
  • discomfort in the kidney area, simultaneously with frequent urination;
  • the medicine may increase the activity of creatine phosphokinase.

Negative effects of Chlorthalidone:

  • manifestation of the RAAS by antagonists;
  • an increase in creatinine, which negatively affects the efficiency of the body’s cleansing function by the kidneys;
  • swelling of the face, arms or legs.

Side effects

Photo 7
According to the WHO classification, adverse reactions are considered frequent if they occur in 1-10% of people.

If the probability is between 0.1 and 1%, then adverse reactions occur infrequently. Effects are considered rare to occur in 0.01-0.1% of people.

Thus, when taking the drug, people often experience dizziness, diarrhea, and increased creatine phosphokinase activity . Infrequently, blood pressure drops, nausea, rash, muscle spasms, severe fatigue and swelling of the extremities occur. Rarely angioedema occurs

When Edarbi is taken simultaneously with Chlorthalidone, the frequency of reactions such as a marked decrease in blood pressure and an increase in creatinine changes from “infrequently” to “often”. Concomitant use of the drug with Amlodipine causes an increase in cases of swelling of the extremities.

If any side effects increase while taking Edarbi, or any other symptoms are observed, you should immediately seek help from a specialist.

special instructions

The pharmacokinetics of Edarbi in elderly patients changes slightly. The degree of change rarely causes dose adjustment of the drug. At the same time, the pharmacological activity changes in the presence of renal failure, so this condition must be taken into account when prescribing a treatment regimen.

During treatment, the drug does not have a significant effect on the ability to drive a vehicle or operate dangerous machinery. However, individual reactions cannot be excluded, for example, dizziness, in which such activities are prohibited.

For mild renal impairment, it is recommended to start treatment with 20 mg of Edarbi. If a patient has cardiomyopathy, a sharp decrease in blood pressure can lead to a heart attack or stroke.

In the case of hyperaldosteronism, patients will be resistant to treatment with antihypertensive drugs that affect the renin-angiotensin system. It is recommended to replace Edarbi with medications of other subgroups.
